Welcome Sam Whibley!

Welcome Sam Whibley!

From Tuesday 18 August, Sam Whibley joins the Parkdale Osteopathic Clinic team after completing his osteopathy studies at Victoria University. Prior to studying osteopathy, Sam completed a Bachelor of Physical Activity and Health Science at Australian Catholic University, providing him with a strong foundation in human movement, health and exercise.

Sam has a particular interest in sports and musculoskeletal injuries, rehabilitation and helping people return to the activities they enjoy. His interest in sport extends well beyond the treatment room. Since 2022, Sam has worked as a Sports Trainer with the Collingwood Football Club, where he has gained valuable experience working alongside physiotherapists, sports doctors and high-performance staff in an elite sporting environment. This experience has exposed Sam to injury management, rehabilitation, strapping and taping, soft-tissue treatment and the physical demands associated with high-level sport. He has also worked as a Sports Trainer with the Warragul Football and Netball Club and holds Sports Medicine Australia Level 1 Sports Trainer accreditation.

As an osteopath, Sam takes a practical and patient-centred approach. He enjoys looking at not only where someone is experiencing pain or restriction, but also the factors that may be contributing to the problem. His treatment approach may incorporate soft-tissue techniques, joint articulation and manipulation, muscle energy techniques, stretching, exercise prescription and rehabilitation depending on the individual and their presentation.

Sam is passionate about continuing to develop as an osteopath and has joined POC because of its strong emphasis on teamwork, mentoring and collaborative patient care. He works alongside our experienced osteopathic team and participates in POC’s regular clinical mentoring and professional development sessions.
Away from the clinic, Sam is a keen sportsman and particularly enjoys footy, cricket, rugby and golf. He loves keeping active and being outdoors and, somewhat unusually for an osteopath, he’s also pretty passionate about gardens and lawns!
