Sensational Kids

Jo and Julia were invited to present a talk at Sensation Kids to occupational therapists, speech pathologists & child psychologist about our work with children and infants.Topics they discussed included general checkup of infants soon after delivery & the benefits of picking up on any musculoskeletal issues that may not have been addressed, milestone checks prior to babies next stage of development, hip dysplasia (congenital hip condition that can be picked up in infants but also affects older children if not found early), head shape problems and torticollis.

Both Julia and Jo briefly explained how osteopathy can also assist in the management of infant and young children with feeding difficulties, colic, reflux and other digestive system trouble including constipation. Difficulties with crawling and walking whether delayed or a pattern of feet turning in our out along with flat feet or high arches was of interest to them, along with toe walking which they also see in children quite often.

They touched on conditions that affect older children & teenagers, in particular the importance of good posture to prevent headaches, neck pain, scoliosis and postural strains, particularly due to the increasing use of technology where kids/teenagers are slouched over I phones, I pads, laptops, gameboys etc‰Û_.

Sensation Kids is on North Rd, Ormond, has great facilities and programs which also include kids feeding therapy programs and social skills groups on top of their routine consultations.
